Won - Lost

Well..... I won a prize at the HUG conference last week and now I lost it. Being a model employee cost me (Chuck) a cool Ipod Touch. Before this, I didn't even know what it was and now I am sad that I lost it. But,,,,,, I bet I make a kid very happy at Christmas. I plan to donate it to one of the Fire dept families for xmas.

This video is funny. It reminds me of one of the movies from the 50's:

Work in progress for final

For my final in art class, I needed to create an ad campaign with 5 posters in a series for a fictional company. I have update with my final product.
Grade was 197 out of 200. I was missing a couple of "to"s so I was marked down. Final Grade = A Yeah!

Red-Breasted Sap Sucker

I captured this image today. I am afraid that this cute little bird may ruin the tree.

Fear rides the Max

This week's assignment is a current event. I thought that the Tri-Met issues seem to be a hot topic.
I got 10 out of 10 on this assignment.

Class - Project

Here is my art class image that is supposed to be reflective on the works of Kandinsky.

I received 9.5 out of 10 on this assignment. The only reason I did not get 10 was that the lines should have extended out more towards the edges of the picture.

It is an image of the characteristics I have and the ones I have in common with an animal. According to this website, I am like a bison: http://www.animalinyou.com/survey.asp

Big Red needs to eat too

I just happened to get lucky to get this photo today. I took this photo from inside the house.

Work in Progress for a Surrealism Art

I am working on my version of a surrealism like Salvador Dali. He uses stark backgounds, fluid clocks, animals with long legs, and other items that may be in a dream. I am not sure what to do next. Thanks to Leah, she gave me the idea of the lake turning into a funnel.
This assignment I received 9 out of 10. I shouldn't have used cats in the water funnel. This was too confusing and Dali probably would not have cats in his images.

Midterm - torn paper collage

For my midterm we had to tear pieces of paper and make a picture out of them. I think there are about 10 small pieces of paper total used on this project. I don't know if I am done yet or not. This was not easy!

I got 140 out of 150 points on this project. The left side of the barn should have extended into the first frame instead of cutting it off in the middle frame.

Wild Horses

We took a drive this weekend to view the fall colors. One of the things we ran into were the large numbers of wild horses. There must have been over a couple hundred in the Warm Springs area. We had to stop twice for horses in the road. Some areas look like there isn't enough food and of course with the summer fires it looks bad. We did see one dead and birds eating him. Yuk! Maybe some day there will be a solution.

Billboard for class

Here is my attempt at creating a billboard for a non-existent company. I hope he doesn't get to mad at me.

Water into Wine

For my digital design class I had to create an abstract still life and do color correction. I am not claiming to be an artist, so abstract is something out of my normal range. See the difference from the original and the new one is quite exciting!
I can turn water into wine, or Chardonnay into Pinot Noir!
And you might recognize the flowers - it is my (one) beautiful sunflower from the backyard.

Fun with Fruit

This is my first project in class this term. All of the items in this picture are from different photos. The apples are all from just one apple picture. I created multiple apples in different shades of red and green/yellow and moved their directions, removed some spots on some. Now we will see what kind of grade I receive.

Flower at Night

When I went out to the back deck to say "hi" to the six deer (2 are this year's fawns) last night, I noticed that our sunflower had bloomed. I thank the birds for planting it for us to enjoy.

Of course, the deer were afraid and ran away. Oh well!

Sunset

I figured I better get another page done before classes start next week.

Painting the house

The bedroom is no longer Burgandy with off white walls. We painted sage color on one wall and the lamps in lilac to match the colors in the comforter. Punkin gives her approval!

Clock

We made to IKEA and the only thing I wanted was a clock. It was cheap enough that I could take it apart and create my own design. There was enough room on the clock for pictures of all of Chuck's kids. He plans to proudly display his clock in his cubicle at work.

Yellowstone

Tons of wildlife and tons of fun!

Animal Twins

Last week it was the cute deer twins that I caputured with my digital and this morning it was the coyotes.
Right after the photos were taken Chuck chased them off with the pellet gun. He never really aims at them.
An hour later one returned. A fire engine went by with the siren going and you could see the coyote howling along with it. It was so funny.

Lightning

I changed this one with new ideas.

Family History

This one contains some of the hard work I went through scanning old photos. The one in the top left of the barn is my grandfather in the wagon with his sister and the rest of the family. I took the photo of the photo at one the historical events in Gresham a couple of years ago. They said it was an unidentified family. Little did they know. It was taken at the corner of 207th and Sandy where there is now a gas station.

Trip from 2005

In 2005 I had a great vacation planned for Tahoe and then my step-daughter decided to get married the same week...in New York!

We made new plans and saw some things we never expected all thanks to Julie.

We flew into NY and drove to Niagara Falls, then through Canada (we stayed in London, Canada - hung out at a local pub while their hockey team was in the finals - how fun!) then on to Michigan to see my oldest brother Dan and his wife Pam, then to Chicago.

tonight

The lightning tonight was awesome. I had to take almost 500 photos before I could capture one lightning strike. The new camera takes them one after another. It is pretty cool. Maybe I will have to use this for one of my scrapbook pages.

Lady Bird Johnson

Since Lady Bird Johnson passed away today I thought it was fitting to do a page with the photos we took on her trail. In August 1969, President Richard Nixon dedicated the grove to Lady Bird Johnson. It is one of my favorites in the Redwoods.

This one was fun

I like doing pages from our trips. Each picture reminds me of something fun and exciting that we did. We got our 10,000 steps a day on this trip.

I did one

I know there is no way to catch up, but I can always do some for fun.

It is my Flex Friday and I am in the recliner catching up on the news. Two bucks just passed by and I don't mean $$.

I created this Blog and won't the girls at work be surprised!!! Now let's see what I can do with it.
