Happy Mother's Day
Looks like momma coyote is nursing some pups somewhere in the woods.
I wonder how long it will be before she brings them out to play.
Last weekend we saw a redwing blackbird attacking this red-tailed hawk. It was almost sitting on top of him. Once I got the camera out I figured out that it must have been the snake that the blackbird wanted.

Warblers at the house
We don't normally see too many Yellow Rumped Warblers at the house. Today there were about a dozen that stayed all day long. They were in the woods, in the trees near the house, in the bushes in back, in front, you name it and they were there. One even decided to hang out in the shed with Chuck for a while. It took a bit before she found her way out.
Grays Harbor and Ocean Springs Weekend
We picked the best weekend of the year to go to Grays harbor and Ocean Springs Washington.
I think every clam digger was out there on Saturday!
A line of cars and people in every direction - filled with clam diggers - except us.
Semipalmated plovers with a long billed dowitcher
Plovers and sandpipers flying in
Too cute.
It was nice seeing them hang out together.
This little plover wanted to know what I was up to.
This one is the shortbilled Dowitcher - can he put his head any further into the sand? - Yes he can!
Western Sandpiper
She finally got some lunch!

Spring and Birds - once again we can get outside
Chestnut backed chickadee
There were three types of wood peckers in the yard today.
Downy woodpecker, a couple red-breasted sapsuckers, and a few northern flickers.
The downy was the cutest one.
The golden crowned kinglet with his dinner.

Coyotes are out during the day!
I saw three coyotes in the backyard last weekend.
This little deer came right up to the window to see what was in the house.
We went to Ridgefield and did the "bird whisper" and this kestrel came to see what we were doing.
